NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi, original box

MAKER: Masao Watanabe

SIZE: 11-7/8" (30cm)

CONDITION: Light scratches and a few small dents on the back of the head. Tiny spot (1/16") on the left side of her head without paint. Through a magnifying glass you can see a few brush strokes of paint so it appears it was simply a missed spot. A few age spots. The box is battered.

These dolls tend to have heavy age spots and finish difficulties. Consider this in excellent condition in comparison.

NOTES: Mr. Watanabe was born in 1917 and passed in 2007. Winner of many awards including top prize, the Prime Minister Award several times. This doll won one of them in 1963.
