NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi

MAKER: Ryouka Aoki

SIZE: 5-1/2" (14.3cm)

CONDITION: Several small dents including one above the right eye and one on the left eye. Some wood age spots and darkening areas.

NOTES: Ms. Aoki was born in 1931. Her real given name is Toshiko. She started kokeshi crafting around 1958. She's a multi-prize winning artist.

This is probably her most famous design. It has a patent type number. I believe the dolls with the ribbons are the older dolls. Later they were made with a wood bow. She comes in all different sizes. This is a smaller one.
