Lacquered Wood Nesting Box Pair #1

Vintage pair of Japanese lacquered wood nesting boxes, measuring approximately 4-1/4" and 4-1/2" tall with a 4-1/2" diameter.

The condition is so so. Please keep in mind they are 50+ years old, they are used and have also become difficult to find, especially in pairs.

The male shows wear on the bottom and a lot of wear (chipping) around both rims. He has assorted scratches, dents, and light blue paint splatters. There are a lot of pit marks on the inside of the bottom bowl as if it was used for keys. He has two cracks; a hairline on the back of his head and a larger one on the bottom left face. This one has a couple of pieces of wood missing as noticed more from the inside. His tassel is frayed.

The female shows a little wear on the bottom and rims of both pieces. She has a few dents and scratches and some staining. This discoloring is on her right sleeve and left side of the head. The tassel is no longer braided.
