Kiyomizu Porcelain Older Kokeshi Couple
$16.00
Quantity Available: 1
Inventory Number: 70494
Vintage Japanese Kiyomizu porcelain couple measuring approximately 3-1/2" tall. This pair is unusual for dolls as the male is in a suit and tie and is wearing glasses and the female is in a traditional kimono. This probably represents an older couple but the hair is black as white could not be seen against the white porcelain. These are mint (new old stock) in original box. This is the only set received of this pair.
Kiyomizu-ware (Kiyomizu-yaki) is a term for porcelain made in Kyoto. Dating back hundreds of years, it's always hand painted.
Probably from the 1950's, there are several different styles listed. They may have dust or dirt but they wipe clean. Most are still wrapped in their original paper, however, the paper is yellowed and fragile with age. All are in their original gift box but the boxes may be soiled or have corners split.
