NAME: Japanese old pull toy of Kintaro as a young boy riding a carp.
SIZE: 5" long 2-1/2" wide and 3-3/4" tall
CONDITION: In very good condition for it's age (probably 30's or 40's). Some fading of the red paint on the wheels.
NOTES: Kintaro is a popular folk hero. Briefly, he wears a bib, is very strong, friends with animals and sumo wrestles with bears. He usually rides a bear but occasionally he rides a carp who's life he once saved.
This toy is made by traditional toy craftsmen who's trade is handed down from generation to generation. Probably made by the Tsuta family of toy makers who are also Yajiro kokeshi craftsmen.
