NAME: Keshi Ningyo of the Aoi Matsuri (festival) parade in Kyoto.

SIZE: The dolls are around 5/8" tall (some variations). The box measures 13-5/8" long x 1-13/16" deep.

CONDITION: Version 2, mid age set (60's-70's), 24 figures including two on horses, an ox w/cart and a stand alone umbrella(?). One woman has a child attached. No missing figures but no lid.

The figure in the third row back is supposed to be carrying a closed umbrella but the clay is missing so he only holds the handle (wire). Light aging spots on the silk.

NOTES: Aoi Matsuri (Hollyhock Festival) or Kamo Festival is held on May 15th and is one of the three big festivals held in Kyoto every year. The style of the parade is fashioned from the Heian Period Court and everything is adorned with hollyhock.
