NAME: Japanese ema or prayer board with a folk craft paper mache dog (inuhariko), representing the "Year of the Dog".
SIZE: Height 3-3/8" (8.8cm) to the top point, 4-7/8" (12.5cm) at the longest point
CONDITION: A light scratch, ding and a dent in the same area at the bottom front of the board.
NOTES: An ema board or prayer board is a method by which people make wishes, prayers or thanks to the dieties by writing it down on the board and hanging it at a shrine. The art work traditionally depicts the Zodiac animals, historic stories, folklore characters and stories, etc., but modern characters are also included now.
