NAME: Japanese ema or prayer board with a dragon representing the "Year of the Dragon", (current year, 2012)

SIZE: Larger size. Height 5" (12.9cm) to the top point, 7-1/2" (19.1cm) at the longest point

CONDITION: Light dents or dings. Some old soiling on the left side (facing it) but some has been removed.

NOTES: A typical Japanese dragon has 3 claws as this one shows.

An ema board or prayer board is a method by which people make wishes, prayers or thanks to the dieties by writing it down on the board and hanging it at a shrine. The art work traditionally depicts the Zodiac animals, historic stories, folklore characters and stories, etc., but modern characters are also included now.
