NAME: Japanese fine art metal sculpture of a pair of horses, lacquered wood stand, original wood box

MAKER: Sotaro Saegusa

SIZE: Approx. 6-1/8" x 4-1/4" & 4" x 5-3/8", stand 11-5/16" x 5-5/16"

CONDITION: The stand has some dents. Probably happened during transit as the horses were not secured.

NOTES: Mr. Saegusa was born in 1911. Well known in Japan, he is a multi-award winning artist.

Probably cast iron. Age, post war 50's-70's. After the war, wood boxes came with only on the finest items as they became too expensive for general use. This is a traditional box with the wooden nails. New items by Mr. Saegusa are currently selling with a cardboard gift box and resin stands.

Very heavy item. With the box, the weight is almost 6 pounds, so will ship at the 7 pound rate. International buyers will be invoiced for the difference over the cost to ship to the U.S.
