Vintage Japanese wooden young female kokeshi in an "iron" pot used for a sunken hearth called an irori. Included is the pole and the decorative fish that hangs from the pole.
The pole would hang from the ceiling and the "iron" pot would hook onto the pole over the fire. This pot is made of wood with a rope attached for the handles. The fish is also carved wood. The total length including the hanging string is about 12". The pot has a 3" diameter. It comes in it's original box but is dented and corners are split on the bottom and lid.
Unusual and nicely crafted piece.
