NAME: Creative Japanese kokeshi with scenery.

SIZE: 9-7/8" (24.6cm)

CONDITION: Few large dings on her upper back and wood age spots, heaviest at the top and bottom of the head.

NOTES: The design on her obi and bun is done in burnt wood style. Two lovely thatched roof houses are included in the scenery.

*This doll was identified by the seller to be Yoshio Otani (big name in "modern" kokeshi and a prime minister award winner). I am not convinced that it is by Mr. Otani. The box lid does, in fact, say Yoshio Otani but the doll does not fit in the box properly. I also cannot see the name in the stamp on the bottom of the doll which usually will be the same as the stamp on the box, which it is not.
