NAME: Creative Japanese kokeshi of a komori or babysitter.

MAKER: Not signed (something is written on the front of the stand but it's usually a place rather than a signature).

SIZE: 7-1/8" (18cm), weight is just over 1 pound

CONDITION: There is a dent or wood flaw on the right side of her head and a scratch by her left eye. The black paint has worn or faded in spots. The head has wood darkening age spots.

NOTES: This style of doll originally was fashioned after the komori or babysitter. It was usually the big sister. She would wear an oversized jacket with the baby tucked safely on her back. This style now includes mothers.

The dark section represents her oversized jacket and the ## (carved) represents the kasuri (ikat) design.
