Creative Kokeshi Diorama of the 47 Ronin

NAME: Creative Japanese kokeshi of the story of the 47 Ronin, also known as Chushingura.

MAKER: Unknown

SIZE: The Ronin are about 5/8" tall. The stand is 9-1/2" x 1-1/2". Overall height is about 2-3/8" including the pine tree.

CONDITION: Good with some light soiling. There once was a cardboard wall or gate attached in the back. This would have listed the names of the Ronin.

NOTES: This is a story about loyalty. Ronin means masterless samurai. The names of the ronin are written on the back wall. Although it is a true story, so many plays and tales have been written that it is hard to sort fact from fiction. This is a brief version: http://www.47ronins.com/.
