NAME: Japanese folk craft of a Benta Doll from Hinagu Hot Springs in Kumamoto Prefecture.

NOTES: The benta doll has a crudely carved (ittobori technique) head and body. The wood is kiri wood (paulownia). Wood sticks attached to red cloth are used as the arms and legs. She is named after the first maker, Benta.
