NAME: Antique Japanese Samurai Costume Doll of Kiyomasa Kato on a black horse. He is know as "The Devil General" and for his tiger hunts in Korea.

Accessories include black horse, sword, spear, stand and original wood crate.

AGE: Late Taisho (1912-1926) to early Showa (1926-1989), c1920's - 30's.

SIZE: The height of the doll on the horse is 12-1/2" including the hat and the horse is about 8-1/2" long. Crate is 15" x 10-1/2" x 6"

CONDITION: The doll and clothing have general soiling. The face has some light scratches, a very fine hairline crack by the left side of the nose and a few tiny chips in the gofun on the top of the head. The helmet has cracks and corrosion (metal parts). The spear is missing it's blade.

The horse has bent up ears and has hair loss, including on the tail. The left stirrup has come off. It was originally attached by a piece of cloth but the cloth has disintegrated with age.

The pine needles are discolored and falling off. The stand has two holes in the front which probably once held flowers or other greenery.

The original wood box has some water stains, bug damage and the corner of the lid has a small piece of wood missing.

NOTES: Gofun finish. The horses left legs have to be gently pulled to get them on the pegs.

The doll probably had the reins in his left hand and his sword by his side. Since the sword is no longer attached, it was put in the left hand to show. The spear would have been used for tiger hunting.

This will ship PARCEL POST to U.S. addresses at no extra charge. It is considered an oversized package and there is a high surcharge if sent priority. You are welcome to upgrade to priority and pay the difference estimated at $25.00. I can also dispose of the wood crate and then will ship priority at no extra charge.
