NAME: Antique Japanese costume dolls of Momotaro (the Peach Boy) and a Samurai.

Momotaro's accessories include his banner and a sword. The samurai has a sword and his Saihai (baton).

The two dolls are not necessarily connected except they are by the Kyugetsu Company, they are from the same time period and they were owned by the same family.

AGE: c1920's-30's

SIZE: Momotaro 7" (17.9cm), Samurai 7-1/8" (18.2cm) including his hat

CONDITION: Momotaro has a tiny chip in the paint under his left eye and the paint on his boots has flaked off quite a bit. One of the threads on the saihai is broken and the red paint is chipping off of both swords. Momotaro's box lid has the three strips of wood missing

NOTES: The Kyugetsu Company is one of the most famous doll producers in Japan dating back to 1835. Outside of Japan, most may know of them from their beautiful female dolls. In the 50's, they heavily exported the little doll sets with wigs.
